Sophomore Spring

A large image of "The New Jim Crow" by Michelle Alexander. The cover is black and white, split down the middle. On the top half there is a string of barbed wire. On the back of the book is text about the book and a height measure.

For this project, we were assigned a book to redesign its cover, and I was given The New Jim Crow. This book explores profound themes, which I aimed to represent through my design choices. The color palette and the distinct color split are intentional, serving as visual metaphors that reflect the book’s powerful message. My goal was to create a cover that captures the essence of its themes while drawing in the viewer with a striking and meaningful composition.
